Tommy’s Story

Tommy Lanier was a beloved son, brother, friend, and adventurer, whose life was taken too quickly by metastatic melanoma at the age of 21. During his short time with us, he touched so many with his grace, positive attitude, and infectious laughter. He serves as an example for each of us on how to live life with humility, compassion, and unwavering strength in the face of enormous adversity.

Tommy Day: Taking advantage of the day by experiencing the world with joy.

Tommy designated certain days as “Tommy Days”, dedicated to taking in the world around him, and doing a few of his favorite things such as hiking, fishing, golfing, and being with his friends and family. Now it is up to us to carry that tradition on.

We support organizations who seek to advance neuroscience, brain injury rehabilitation, and the cure for melanoma. Many of the organizations we fund are those who fought with and for Tommy throughout his battle with melanoma such as Emory Winship Cancer Institute, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Piedmont Hospital, Shepherd Center and Vanderbilt University Medical Center Neuroscience.
